True Thomas
|
True Thomas the Storyteller has been storytelling for many years. He is well known in the southern California Celtic Community as a person who brings traditional stories to life with passion and wit. He is following the Celtic Seanachai tradition, a wonderful oral tradition that is slowly fading away in it’s native tongue and countries.
He currently performs around Southern California, and teaches classes on Celtic folklore, mythology, and Early Celtic history. On this St. Patrick’s Day evening he will be featured as co-star at the “Emerald Evening Concert” at the McGroarty Art Center in Tujunga.

Mr.Leprechaun
|
Marty Burton will read from his celebrated children's book, Dear Mr. Leprechaun.
The first friend I ever had was a leprechaun. We used to write to each other. I would leave notes for him at bedtime. In the morning, I would find his answer...
So begins this true account of an enchanting correspondence that would last for seven years, and a friendship that would last a lifetime. The original childhood notes of Martin Nelson Burton and the warm, fatherly replies of Mr. Leprechaun spring to life in Clint Hansen’s paper sculpture world.
Free Dear Mr. Leprechaun sticker to every child.

Craicmore
|
Craicmore: the name itself – an easy blend of craic –an Irish word for fun, and the Anglicization of m’or - Irish for “big” or “great,” reflects the group’s approach to its music. “We’re a contemporary traditional Celtic band,” the group agrees. The draw their words and music from the traditional music of Ireland and Scotland and claim influences as diverse as The Bothy Band, Chieftains and Pogues and rock, country, and R&B. It’s an amazingly seductive marriage: one that never fails to turn new faces into fans, an audience that continues to grow with the release CRAICMORE second CD, Too Bad For Heaven, Too Good For Hell.

Dublin 4
|
Authentic Irish music requires no holidays with these boys. The rapid rise of this three piece (don't let the name fool you, Dublin 4 is an Irish zip code) has had them performing non-stop, from all over So. Cal & Vegas to their home town of Dublin. The music is strictly traditional in style and resounds with a younger generation presentation. They have a clear vision of what music they play and how they go about thier craft. The LA Times wrote "More authentic than green beer and as rich as a pint of Guinness" A SHOW NOT TO BE MISSED!!!

Alex Beaton
|
Alex Beaton was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and began his professional career with the Cumberland Three, one of Britain's most popular folk singing acts of the sixties. He launched his solo career in New York in 1968, appearing in clubs and in concerts throughout the United States.
Although he enjoyed success as a pop entertainer, he recognized that there was a desire among American audiences for traditional Celtic music. He knew that the natural outlet for his music was the Highland Games that can be found all over the continent, wherever there are people of Scottish heritage. He founded Glenfinnan Music Ltd. and began to open a market for the traditional singer at the gatherings. Now, at every one, the folksinger is there along with the athlete and the piper.

McCartan School of Dancing
|
An Irish festival wouldn't be complete without some Irish dancing!
Mary Beth McCartan operates the McCartan School of Irish Dance, where students learn jigs, reels and other types of traditional step dancing. She says the style appeals to Irish Americans, and non-Irish as well.
"Everyone is interested in Irish dancing," she said. "We have students from age three-and-a-half to adult classes. It's part of their culture, but it's also something where the kids really bond and the children make new friends. And it's just attractive for the social end of things as well."
